Vineyard Info
For more than five centuries, the winery covering 9.5 hectares was transmitted from generation to generation; here the vine and the wine has always been a family affair. The cellar was constructed by Vivant Gille (1877-1938). The cultivation of the vine and the vinification process are according to Burgundy tradition. In the region of Nuits Saint Georges, the tradition of the vine cultivation goes back to the eleventh century, with the arrival of monks from the Cistercian Abbey in the nearby village of Vougeot. At that time, the hills were covered with forests. Thanks to the hard work of the monks, this was gradually replaced by vines from North to South.
The Maison Saint Vivant Nuits-Saint-Georges is made from Pinot Noir old vines dating back 80 years! The vineyard is situated in the South of Nuits Saint Georges, on the "Les Brulees" (1ha 21 ares 27) parcel that has a South East orientation.
