Info: For more than 5 centuries, the winery with a current area of 9.5 hectares is transmitted from generation to generation; here the vine and wine are always family affair. The cellar was constructed by Vivant Gille (1877-1938) which is the origin of organizing the domaine. The cultivation of vine and the vinification are following the Burgundy tradition.
The vine is originally known in Gaul back to the fourth century BC, when the Romans invaded the territory. A few centuries later, its development was favored by the need of wine from the Catholic Church for the celebration of Mass. In the region of Nuits Saint Georges, the tradition of the vine cultivation back to the eleventh century, with the installation of the monks of the Cistercian abbey in the village of Vougeot. At that time the hills were covered with forests. Thanks to the work of the monks, the region was gradually replaced by the vine from north to south.
